Menopausal care
Over half of the women who go through menopause will experience bothersome symptoms that impact their quality of life. Of those women, less than half consult with a healthcare professional, and the ones that do receive little to no guidance. Dr. Shadi takes this gap in healthcare seriously by offering proven and effective treatment strategies to help women walk into their next stage of life with confidence.
Below is an outline of how Dr. Shadi approaches treatment for the care of peri-menopausal and menopausal women.

Phase 1 – Thorough assessment of presenting symptoms

Peri-/Menopausal women report an average of seven symptoms during their hormonal transition including but not limited to:

-
Insomnia
-
Hot flashes
-
Nightsweats
-
Low libido
-
Vaginal dryness
-
Urinary difficulties
-
Difficulty with memory and concentration
-
Joint pain
-
Fatigue
-
Brain fog
-
Weight gain

These symptoms can vary in severity and can have multiple causes including declining estrogen and progesterone levels, imbalanced stress hormone secretion, caloric insufficiency, poor sleep hygiene, and more. A very important step in the plan is to spend time on assessment. Through a thorough assessment we can correctly identify what we need to work on together to create effective solutions that will help you reach your health goals. The assessment process involves taking in-depth history, evaluating your risks and benefits for bioidentical hormone therapy, and ordering blood tests to check for hormone levels.

After a thorough assessment Dr. Shadi will lay out a treatment plan that will target your specific needs. The treatment plan will include:

-
Specific diet and lifestyle recommendations for your hormonal stage of life
-
Personalized herbal and/or nutrient recommendations
-
Lab test requisition (if not previously done) for sex hormones including but not limited to FSH, estrogen, progesterone, a full thyroid assessment, inflammation investigations, insulin and glucose testing and liver and cholesterol testing
-
Prescription for hormone therapy (if indicated and desired)
Phase 2 – Improve, tweak, and monitor

After understanding everything that is contributing to your menopausal havoc and creating a custom treatment plan tailored to helping you feel more like yourself again, we let the plan work its magic! After a few weeks we will follow up on your progress. Most women at this point feel much better and have significant improvements in their menopausal symptoms. Based on the results of your bloodwork and progress, we will tweak the treatment plan. In addition, we’ll discuss the concerns we haven’t yet addressed and create solutions for them.

With a few tweaks we’re on our way to helping you continue to improve as expected and make your way into phase 3.

Phase 3 – Maintain confidence as you walk into the next stage of life

Menopause is not just a short-term thing, it’s a new stage of life and with any new stage there are things to watch out for and optimize. Menopausal women are more at risk for cardiovascular disease, dementia, osteoporosis, cancer, depression, anxiety, and unwanted weight gain.
In phase 3 we work together to reduce your risk for these potential issues while helping you stay consistent in the progress you’ve already made. Dr. Shadi’s goal is to help improve your quality of life and thrive in menopause without being bogged down by disease. We’ll do consistent check-ins every 3-6 months with regular re-testing of your bloodwork to make sure we are on the right track.
