Hormonal blood tests

Writer's picture: Dr. Shadi Tabaei, NDDr. Shadi Tabaei, ND

Have you had your hormones tested but everything came back normal? Then I have one question for you... What day of your cycle were you on when you got tested? If you don't know the answer to that question or were not directly told by your doctor to do your hormonal blood test on a specific cycle day, then how your results are being interpreted may not be accurate.   Our hormones fluctuate throughout our cycle. There are points in the month where a specific hormone is high, and other points where that hormone is low. Each hormone has its time when its high and low. When we are testing for hormones, we need to be aware that each hormone has its own rhythm. If we really want to see how that hormone is behaving, we need to test it on a SPECIFIC day. For example...

Progesterone should be tested on day 21 of your cycle

LH/FSH should be tested on day 3 of your cycle.

Estradiol should be done on day 3 of your cycle.  And so on... Make sure you are advocating for yourself and shoot me an email back if this has happened to you!

Rooting for you, Dr. Shadi Tabaei P.S. If your ready to figure out whats going on, schedule a free 15 minute consult to talk about your health concerns here
