Post-birth control syndrome

Coming off the pill can be nerve wrecking for many women as it's difficult to know exactly what will happen when they come off. On average most women with no underlying hormonal disorders experience a return of their normal cycle within 3-6 months.

However, there are many women who experience post-pill syndrome with symptoms including irregular periods, acne, migraines, and unwanted hair growth.

To help reduce the effects of post-pill syndrome its important to understand what was going on prior to starting on the pill. Most women that have a hormonal disorder are offered the pill as a solution and stay on for multiple years. However, hormonal disorders only get masked by the pill and are not actually resolved. As a result, when women come off the pill they may experience a resurgence of their symptoms. In addition, some women develop hormonal issues while being on the pill that are not noticed because of the masking effects of the pill on hormones.

Therefore, its important to evaluate the series of events that occurred prior to and while she was on the pill so that we can fully understand what is causing the post pill syndrome and treat effectively.
